„ON THE WAY“ WITH VLADIMÍR BIRGUS´S PHOTOGRAPHIC DOCUMENTS

Apart from a short episode in visual photography, Birgus is a born documentarist, who exists in coordinates that put emphasis on a motif's visual qualities. Birgus's pictures are means of intellectual dialogue with viewers, but even more they represent his personal communication with human existence in the world around us. (...) All situations that lack exact definitions but are recorded in the photos are organised by their visual signs. The situation itself is a non-definable sign, which can be assigned some meaning only when transformed into the picture. Vladimír Birgus's work is characterised by his intellectual and logical method, and visual exploration of mutual relationships between different situations in a particular (but only slightly outlined) environment.
